Westbury Wins NLDS - Game by Game

Last week Westbury defeated Carolina 4 games to 1 to move on their first NLCS. Here is the game by game as written by Earl.

Westbury wins 4-1 in a netplayed series taking about 1 hour 20 minutes..

Game 1 - Started as a great pitching duel between Contreras and Halladay. 3 Carolina errors in the 5th led to 2 unearned runs and Halladay cruised to an 5-1 victory. Contreras for the loss, F. Rod with a save..

Game 2 - Carolina jumps out with 3 early runs off of Santana but a PH 3 run homer by Duncan rattled Millwood and the bullpen couldn't keep the game close . I Rod's 4 hits lead Westbury to a 8-4 win. Santana the win, Millwood the loss

Game 3 - Clemens cruises through 7 solid innings giving up a run on 3 hits. Vasquez is solid for Carolina but Westbury scratches a couple runs over and Darren Oliver gets hammered in the 9th for Westbury's 9-1 win. Beltran & Ryan Freel each drive in 3 runs...

Game 4 - Hamels and Chris Young were shaky but each left with the game tied at 3. Both bullpend were solid until the 10th when K. Rod gives up a game winning HR to Ken Griffey for a Carolina 4-3 win....Beimel gets win, K. Rod the loss

Game 5 - Six homers for Westbury including four homers by Albert Pujols (he went 5-5 - single other AB), Other than a little threat in the 4th, Halladay cruised for a complete game 9-3 win. Contreras gets the loss....

Pujols goes 13-24 with 5 doubles, 5 homers, 8 runs and 9RBIs..
but MVP of the series is Roy Halladay - 2-0 with 4 runs, 10 hits in 17 1/3 innings...Westbury with a 2.20 ERA for the series was the difference
